The Museum of Science Boston is one of my all-time favorite quirky wedding venue spaces in Cambridge! I used to have a membership to this museum as a child and so, the space holds many memories for me.

FAVORITE SPACES FOR MUSEUM OF SCIENCE BOSTON WEDDINGS

The Museum of Science Boston can host a spectacular waterfront wedding venue in the heart of Boston City. The museum provides an experience like no other with access to permanent attractions as well as entry to interactive exhibits and exhibit halls that will make your wedding day event memorable for years to come!

Blue Wing

You and your guests are literally inside of the Museum of Science Boston. Guests can roam around to check out the interactive exhibits and exhibit halls or catch some open air. After the ceremony, couples can invite all of their guests to watch a fun electricity show at the theater of electricity! You’ll laugh as you explore the fascinating world of lightning and storm safety. The science museum has it’s very own theater of electricity with interactive exhibits and exhibit halls containing state-of-the-art technology that demonstrate a live, make-believe, thunderstorm!

The dance floor at the Blue Wing is right in the center of the event. Guests who don’t want to dance can wander venue to visit and access the interactive exhibits and exhibit halls or go up the escalator to watch the wedding event from above. Typically, wedding entrances happen coming down the escalators, makes for the opportunity to create fun photographs.

“Our wedding ceremony took place on a November evening in the Skyline Room with a great view of Boston City, followed by a cocktail reception, and access to a sit-down dinner in the Blue Wing.

What can we say? Each step of planning the wedding ceremony from the initial inquiry to the wrap-up at the end of the reception was easy-to-contact, professional, well-organized and extremely easy life for us! The planning for a wedding event at the science museum was such a smooth & fun process, it didn’t seem real compared to the stress my friends had to endure when they planned the day of their weddings. The coordinators were very professional and had great suggestions to create a successful event, generated documents to keep us on track, and handled last-minute adjustments to ensure everyone (including ourselves) had a great time! Our guests kept commenting on how fun & well run the event was throughout the evening, and all the credit really goes to how great the Museum & Wolfgang Puck catering team had everything set up! Keith did an incredible job creating a seasonal menu that was super popular with all of our guests! The guests raved about all aspects of the meals, from the passed hors d’oeuvres to the salad, entree, and desserts. My husband and I were also well taken care of during the evening, as we had our personal “shadow” ensuring us we had the opportunity to eat throughout the evening. The attention to detail was impeccable.

Sheryl’s promise to us during our initial site visit far exceeded our expectations: all we really needed to do was show up to the wedding venue and party during the event–and party we did! I can’t stress enough how professional all the staff members were, including the day-of coordinators Lisa, Tana, Chantel and Marjie who were working hard behind the scenes of the site to set everything up. The reputation the staff have developed at the MoS and Wolfgang Puck Catering is stellar, and I’m so happy we got to celebrate our Museum of Science wedding event at such a fabulous venue!” — Anonymous

Skyline Room

The awesome aspect of this space is that it offers panoramic outdoor views of the Charles River, Back Bay, Boston AND Cambridge. The Skyline Room offers floor to ceiling windows on two adjacent walls makes this epic view of the Charles River and city skyline possible. If you have a wedding ceremony here, I suggest having it close to sunset – it makes for some great wedding photos!

Though the Museum of Science Boston is known for its education, technology, and nerdiness, couples can have their wedding ceremony and other events here without ever needing to step foot into the museum.

“We absolutely couldn’t have asked for better wedding event planning and wedding day team than Sheryl and her crew at the Museum of Science Boston. They were always incredibly easy to contact via email and phone (both when our wedding day was over a year away, and when our wedding date was a day away) and were top-notch professionals on the day of the wedding event itself. Same goes for Hollie and her team from the in-house caterers of MoS, Wolfgang Puck Catering. Wolfgang Puck Catering food was fantastic, and they worked so well through meetings with Sheryl’s professional team and Mos staff that it didn’t even feel like we were dealing with two separate vendors, but they create one fun, well-oiled machine. The venue itself was SO MUCH FUN. We chose to go for a night museum of science wedding ceremony at the MoS, gala style, and have an indoor reception in the Blue Wing with the T-rex and all our guests had fun exploring the interactive exhibits and exhibit halls and being all fancy in a fun, unique location. Our ceremony venue was in the Skyline Room and the site was gorgeous. Seriously, we are just so happy with everything related to the Museum of Science Boston wedding venue. We highly recommend them as a wedding venue and site to anyone looking plan and schedule their wedding ceremony.” — Anonymous

“The Museum of Science Boston Washburn Pavilion was a great place to have our wedding ceremony! The Washburn Pavilion wedding venue is so beautiful, you don’t even need to decorate the wedding site. It also offers scenic views of the Charles River! The Museum of Science wedding staff and Wolfgang Puck Catering staff were so easy and fun to work with. They take care everything during weddings, including the space, room, and parking – so we could just enjoy ourselves. The food by MoS catering partner Wolfgang Puck Catering was also fantastic.” — Vanessa M.

“The Museum of Science Boston is a wedding venue or any event venue we booked online 20 months out of our Memorial Day Wedding. We worked with Sheryl and Hollie. Sheryl heads the venue and Hollie heads the Wolfgang Puck (ASK TO WORK WITH THEM). If I could go 6 or 7 stars I would! I dont have more then enough great things to describe about the MOS and their team of professionals. In the MOS there are several venues to choose from, we chose the outdoor Washburn Pavilion that overlooks beautiful views of the Charles River. The venue was gorgeous, even on our overcast and slightly rainy day. The rain never gets inside the Washburn pavilion (dance floor) and there was an outdoor updated tent to eat in. Sheryl coordinated everything perfectly. She had backup plans incase it rained and had us all covered (literally and figuratively) incase. Hollie made sure the food was “on point”. If you’re Italian check the Wolfgang Puck menu, ask to try “Braised Beef” – promise you cannot go wrong. Additionally, when you look for the “best wedding” events, it usually comes down to the Venue, Food, atmosphere (Music and people). The Museum of Science Boston is responsible for the first two and their execution was flawless. For people who are looking to get pictures with Boston esc background, there is a park right across the street from the MoS which views the Boston and Cambridge Skyline as well as Zakim Bridge. Lastly, this venue is pretty affordable compared to all the venues around it. If you want stellar scenery from the Boston and Cambridge skyline, professional and interactive staffing, 5 star food from Wolfgang Puck, scenic views of the Charles River and an unforgettable once in a lifetime wedding day ceremony that people will talk about for a long time, go with the MOS- you will NOT be disappointed.” — Marc
